Nichrome 80 and nichrome 60 are pretty much interchangeable for heating applications. Nichrome wire increases in resistance a little as the temperature increases and nichrome 80 changes less than nichrome 60 so is more applicable for resistors in electronics. The 80 also has a slightly higher melting temperature and maximum operating temperature. Since nichrome 80 has no iron, some prefer it for vaping while others can taste no difference. Nichrome 80 is a little more expensive than nichrome 60 so for normal heating purposes such as foam cutting, plastic bending, film cutting or sealing, etc. the 60 is usually used. For wrapping around tubes or similar heating applications, the ribbon wire may be better since it lays flat and has more surface area to transfer heat with.
