Ideas from Local PTA/PTSAs

Below are a few ideas for Kentucky PTA Kids' Day and for programs designed and used by local PTA/PTSAs. For a complete list of ideas, please visit our Members Section.

Kentucky PTA Kids' Day Ideas

  • Have students plant spring bulbs on school grounds – in the spring have a party to celebrate. Remind the students they too, like the flowers, grow (bloom) with love and attention.
  • Position the students to form the outline of the state of KY. Ahead of time ask the 4th & 5th graders to help map out the outline. Ask fire department to come with basket ladder so someone can take a picture. Include your local heroes in the center or have legislators stand in the Frankfort area.

Oustanding Programs and Projects Ideas

  • Stephens Elementary School (Tobacco, Alcohol)
Bracelets with the saying, “Be like me. I’m drug free,” were purchased for the entire student body, faculty, and PTA members. The local Lion’s Club donated red ribbons and stickers for students and faculty to wear. Every student was also asked to sign a drug free pledge. In addition, a “chain of love” was created by every student writing down two people who would be disappointed in them if they used alcohol, drugs, or began smoking.

  • Kelly Elementary School (Parent/Student/Community Involvement, Test Motivation)
The Cat’s Meow program is designed to benefit students and allow them to think outside the box. It is a fun way to review curriculum concepts, with hands-on and interactive activities. This event is an overnight prep-rally that has been very successful in improving Cat’s Test Scores in History and Science.
