Contact the Kentucky PTA for guidance and assistance. A packet of information materials can be sent for review or a date can be scheduled for a presentation and an organizational meeting with a state PTA representative.
Arrange the organizational meeting. After a date and time have been established with the state PTA, distribute notices to all parents, teachers, staff, and community members.
At the meeting the state PTA representative will give a brief overview of PTA and answer questions. A vote will be taken to become affiliated with PTA. If this is a new association elections are held for either a nominating committee or the officers. If a parent organization with officers is already in place this election is not necessary.
Dues are collected and bylaws are completed. An SS4 form is filled out and the Kentucky PTA will send the form to the IRS to establish non-profit status.
If officers are in place or have been elected a date is set for a board training.
